GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate)
A deposit with a bank for a fixed term (3 months–10 years) at a guaranteed rate, CDIC-insured within limits. Non-redeemable GICs pay more but lock the money until maturity; redeemable ones allow early exit at lower rates.
